This place has one of the longer history of serving Cantonese or Hong Kong dessert in Singapore. A Long Long time ago, I remembered going for steamboat and coming here for dessert afterwards... it started from a one man show to this about 10 other chinese nationalities staff. Maybe I am rather old fashioned and prefer the idea that my desserts are being prepared by a person who want to do a good job than a group of people doing it as a job. I realized that the standard had dropped quite a bit and oso no longer as good as before. I am looking for better dessert places now. :)

Ji De Chi 记得吃 (Upper Cross Street) ( 3rd Dec 2008)

Without a doubt... I LOOOOOOOOVE sweet things. Durian and sago and pomelo are a fantastic mix... *yummy* Even thinking about it now... causes me to have urges to head there to get some desserts.

Durain with Pomelo sago

With thick thick durian puree... silence would only befall on someone who is so talkative like me....

Egg drop water chestnut sago paste

I didn't like this. I definitely had better ones before. The egg drops seemed alot... but it wasn't enough... it was like plain water... and i didn't have much of the chestnuts... I think the sago was bigger than the chestnut bits.

Almond jelly with longans

My friend seemed to think that this was quite good. But I am not a fan of almond jelly with longan...

I think the service here were quite friendly and fast. I didn't like the fact that they asked us to pay immediately after serving... I still like the old fashion way of paying when we are done with the food.

Ah Chew Dessert (1st Nov 2008)

This used to be a decent dessert place... but I think it had changed quite a bit... maybe I would bring my picky self to another store...

Pulot hitam with ice cream - this tasted okay... but I found it slightly grainy... I had smoother pulot hitam before... and ice cream do make a good combination...

Water Chestnut with egg - they used to cube the chestnut... now they sliced it thinly instead... there are more water than chestnuts.... and egg? the hen must had forgot to lay it.. cause I don't detect it's existence there...

Mango sago & pomelo - there are good ones and there are bad ones... and this fall in between. It's rather hard to accept this... as I know they can do better...

Ah Chew used to be THE place to go... but then I realized ... when one gets too popular.... but I doubt I would want to go there anymore... Fame made them too good for little me.
