First Thai Food (15th Nov 2008)

Papaya Salad

it's definitely colorful enough.... Tastewise... so so.

Belachan Rice (with pork)

I actually thought this dish would taste rather fishy... because of the belachan used. It turned out to be better than the pineapple rice I ordered... so I took lots of this and left the pineapple rice to the rest of the ppl :p

Pineapple fried rice

This was rather badly done. As you can see from the picture... it looked rather "kept-in" as in they had fried it this morning, put it aside like u would do normal plain rice and served a portion of it when someone ordered.... which by the way is how they are doing it here... I saw a whole metal bowl of pineapple fried just under the serving counter. (I was so not impressed).

Pandan Chicken

The chicken was rather hard here. but it's tasty enough.

Cereal Soft shell crab

I think other than the belachan rice, this would be my next favorite dish. :D I like the cereal that's fried with the curry leaves... i can have that with my belachan rice and I will be happy :D

Seafood otah
I don't know about others... But I looooooooooooooooooove steamed otah :D
This was done the way I would like it... pity about the herbs they had placed at the bottom of it.

Thai Green Curry
This is quite good with plain rice : D I think it's simple enough... nothing special about it.

Tom Yum soup
I had a bad accident with curry the night before... so I stayed away from the tom yum.. but from the looks of it, it does look delicious and my dining partners finished it all.

Coconut Jelly
I loooooooooooooooooooooooooove this type of jelly... They appeared on the market a few years ago, but in smaller coconuts. I think it should be so. This coconut flesh was too hard for my liking.

Tapioca with coconut milk.
I like this :D but i always like coconut milk stuffs... This was sweetened :D I only tasted the coconut milk and not the tapioca.

I think this place was good a few years ago... but then it had not been up to the standards they had once set themselves.

Ratana Thai Seafood Restaurant (5th Nov 2008)

A friend decided to choose this thai restaurant for our lunch today... and it happened to be the one that was opened by a Thai lady who had married a Singaporean... she was on some local talk show, and ever since then, I was looking for a chance to visit her place... not that I exactly know where it was... I tot I might need to do some research on it... so I am glad I was given the chance to try her cooking :)

Green Mango Salad , Lots of crunchy green mango slices... and lots of little dried shrimps... and the sauce was sweet and spicy!! :P I think the dried shrimps really made this dish unique... it made an impression on me :D

Thai fish Cake.

I never like thai fish cake... i think it's too hard to chew... The lady claimed it's some really fresh fish which can only be used to make this, only if they are really fresh. Personally... if i want to know if a fish is fresh or not... I will have it steamed hong kong style!!! :p

Pineapple rice... Nothing special... Just another pineapple rice... :) but it went well with the rest of the dishes :D

Seafood tom yum... this was really really spicy... even when we asked for little spice... I couldn't take too much of it... cause it burnt my tongue really bad. I think I will order the milky one next time... at least it will not be that spicy. I am surprised that I am not able to take that much spicy stuffs....

Fried Bean Curd with Thai style sauce..

Deep Fish Garlic style... I looooooooooooooooooooooove this fish. I like it because it's soooooo grumpy... I suspected it doesn't really want to be my lunch for the day.... but then too bad... Anyway it's was deep fried to the way I like, with some bones that are even eatable. :p

Lastly... someone had to include this... not that I had touched any leaves more than I would usually do... it's okay... just another dish of fried veggie... :P

If u are looking for cheap and authentic Thai food... you might want to try here. But i will not make any special efforts just to come here for this :P

And BTW they do not have desserts.... <BR>

Thai Accent (VivoCity) (24th Oct 2008)

Dinner with my family... cause sister wanted to get something from vivo... hence the choice of location... as for the type of food... was due to the fact that my mom had not been eating enough.. I tot some spicy food would help her. :D
so decided on Thai food... and this restaurant.

Name cards - DSC_2720

We started with Thai Accent appitizer... it was prawn wonton, Lucky fortune, fish cake, spring rolls and a mango salad. I had to give it to them that the salad was good. But the rest.. they could be easily brought and might even taste better.

These are some of the stuffs we had ordered that night.

Thai styled otak otak. I had always enjoyed this dish... I love steamed otah, that the grilled over fire or stove type... But this is a rather weird one... cause there was cabbage slices and a piece of prawn at the bottom... I always prefer seafood or fish paste... without the cabbage or bits of seafood.

Clear Tom yam (Prawn) soup ... Gosh! this was really spicy... maybe I should have got the other one.. I think it's with milk or coconut milk... maybe it will not be that spicy... It was good though.

Green Curry chicken okie... this is a pretty special dish.. they can't have screw this up.

Stir fried seafood with hot basil leaves... okie I stupidly tot this would be the same as the one I had in Hong Kong... tot it would be a dried dish... instead this pile of "heaven knows what it was" came out of the kitchen... I didn't like this or the next dish... cause it's looks like the dish I had cooked during my home eco final exams. I didn't blame my teacher for not wanting to try the dish... :P

Stir fried duck with ginger and onion ... My previous domestic helper who had wanted to conquer the world, using purely eggs, can do better in terms of presentation. The taste ain't that bad... but definitely could have been better.

Pandan leaves chicken ... something which I will ALWAYS order in a Thai resturant, just because. This was rather badly done. I didn't like the taste, I didn't like the way the meat was struck to the pandan leaves.... I didn't like the fact that the pandan broke into pieces, dirtying my plate, my rice and everything that's on it. *spoilt brat mode on* I didn't like the way the dish was done in this restaurant *spolit brat mode off*

Deep fried bean curd... when will the good dishes be coming? The Thai chilli taste and look like maggie chilli sauce, instead of the nice sweet thai chilli I like. Horrible horrible... I didn't even want to eat the bean curd... but I polished off the fried been hoon... :D Hey, who forgoto to turn off the brat mode!!!

Stir Fried KangKong with Shrimp paste...

Pineapple fried rice with prawns. I like... nice and slightly sweet... I like pineapple fried rice... *yummy*

Water chestnuts with crushed ice, jackfruits and coconut milk, you can do better with any food court stalls...

Water chestnuts with crushed ice, jackfruits and coconut milk - DSC_2827

Sago with sliced coconut and coconut milk... It's more like sago with sea coconut and lots of coconut milk... hehe being a fan of coconut milk... I finished the milk and did not even finish the rest of stuff... Sometimes... things that are so simple... yet they are not able to do it well.... *sigh*

Sago with sliced coconut and coconut milk - DSC_2813

Mango sticky rice served with coconut milk... I like I like I like sticky rice. but but but.... it's another simple dish... get a good mango... cook some sticky rice... and pour some coconut milk on it...

Mango sticky rice served with coconut milk - DSC_2810

Sweet tapioca served with coconut milk... yeah served with coconut milk indeed... one tiny dish... I think there was less than 2 tablespoonfuls in the dish... GIVE ME A SOUP BOWL!!! don't be stingy... the only good dessert there... why only? cause tapioca is not easy to cook to the perfection I had tried that night. So give more coconut milk and make it THE REASON for me to go back again.

Let me think... is there any reason to go back there... nope. Were the service good? passable... maybe not again. There are so many Thai food around... I rather spend my money else where.
